About Me
I’m the Technical Projects Officer at a consulting company. This is my public blog. It might be a bit dry unless you’re a geek like me.
In 2007-2010 I worked for Europe’s largest university, The Open University. I supported distance and open learning among students including offender-learners (those in prisons and secure hospitals).
In the past I’ve worked as a health, safety and environmental officer in the privatised nuclear industry, and for five years as a commercial and civil mediator. In the year 2005/6 I carried out 5% of the commercial mediations in the UK. My colleague carried out another 5% and the other 598 or so mediators shared the rest fairly evenly between them. Our team won an award for this.
I have a online journal elsewhere, but this is a place to publish opinion pieces on my areas of expertise, on the ground where they overlap, and on some complete tangents.
I’m the parent of a disabled child. I’m likely to write about the political and practical side of that role here, too.
The masthead photo for this blog is a Ruff in flight. I took the picture with a camera-phone at Farmoor Reservoir, Oxfordshire.

Hi Michael
Thanks for getting in touch – we’ll get your p2pu shirt to you as soon as possible. If you could drop me an email bekka AT p2pu DOT org with your postale address and size (they’re quite slim-cut tees) I’ll be able to send it off next week.
Oh, and congrats on being a pioneer!
